Let’s hear it for Froot Loops on top and cereal milk inside.
Piccione Pastry is celebrating its sixth birthday this week (April 23-28) with menu items including breakfast cannoli and some cannoli-themed events.
The Delmar pastry shop is rolling out two kinds of breakfast cannoli, both modeled after popular breakfast cereals. One has a Cinnamon Toast Crunch add-on and the other is inspired by Froot Loops. The only thing better than that would be if the cannoli cream was infused with cereal milk. And it is! Keep tabs as the varieties of breakfast cannoli will change monthly. (We just put in a request for Reese’s Puffs.)
Piccione is also adding other sweet and savory options to its breakfast menu including an egg-filled breakfast calzone (pictured above), spiced banana bread (pictured below), chocolate muffins, and assorted bagels with cream cheese.
Piccione’s location in the Loop and its new menu make it an ideal spot for people to stop for breakfast, Executive Pastry Chef Colleen McBryan said in a statement. “Whether you’re looking to sit down for a delicious breakfast, grabbing a quick bite on your way into work or being a generous co-worker and picking up a box of morning treats for the office, let us start you day on an egg-cellent note,” McBryan said.
Piccione is also hosting some festivities for its birthday celebration. Guests can enjoy $3 cannoli this week (including fan favorite Gooey Butter). On Saturday, the bakery will host its annual All-You-Can Eat Cannoli Contest. There are two time slots for the contest, one at 1 PM and the other at 3 PM. Winners get free pastries for a year. Cannoli enthusiasts can sign up at the store or email the shop at firstname.lastname@example.org to register.
“We are incredibly grateful to our loyal customers and for the unwavering support from the community. We can’t wait to celebrate six years with them,” Piccione Pastry Owner Richard Nix, Jr. said in the release.
